4th & 5th August – Sydney Report

Well the weekend weather could have been better for the boats gamefishing off Sydney. The but the fishing was great for sharks & albacore but unfortunately the yellowfin failed to turn up.
Our club the SGFC had its annual Mako competition & this year lived up to it’s name with over 120 fish tagged on day 1 with on 30 odd boats on the water. Day 2 was slower but a few boats still managed 6 fish tagged but most boats still got multiple fish. The winning boat tagged 15 fish for the 2 days. We were chartering & couldn’t enter but listening to the skeds it sounded like all crews had a great time & it was well run by the guys at tournament base.
For us we had great crews both days & we caught plenty of albacore to 10kg & lost 2 mako’s but everybody had a great day out & took home a great feed. The weather & water temperatures should improve over the next couple of days & hopefully the boats that get out should get some yellowfin before that front comes through. Good luck.
Cheers
